til you're the target!
So last night I sent the Oldest Boy a text, "I am calling the Police if you don't text me back!" Well, he COULD have been a kidnap victim, you never know!
And then...
Last night at 1:15AM, the house phone rings. Me, having only been asleep for half an hour at the most, stumble over to the phone. I don't answer if I don't recognize the number. It rang again and I made a mental note to beat the ass of the Youngest Boy in the morning, because surely, this had to be one of his friends!
I had fallen asleep on the sofa, watching that vampire show, so I went back to the sofa. The doorbell rings.
It's 1:45AM.
Do you know how slow your brain works at 1:45AM? It's like Windows 3.1 SLOW.
I stand there, thinking, and not doing a very good job. I am hoping that whoever it is will go AWAY.
"Ding Dong"
Me: "Why am I the ONLY one hearing this?"
"DINNNNNG DOOOOONG"
Me: "Okay, maybe that is the last one."
"KNOCK, KNOCK, BAM, BAM, BAAAAAAM
Me: "F..."
I open the door to a local police officer. It's a good thing that Mommy Mode doesn't seem to be working at 1:45AM.
Officer: "Your mother-in-law has been trying to call you but it keeps going to voicemail."
Me: "Maybe that is because everyone HERE IS ASLEEP."
Officer: "You might want to call her."
Me: "Thank you officer, I'm sorry you had to come out."

I believe it.

TOO FUNNY!!!
Boy your police are awesome. We called ours last week because our neighbor was shooting a hunting gun really near our property and they said "nothing we can do." Really.
See, that is the beauty of our police too...they come to tell you your mother-in-law is calling but won't do anything when you report a REAL crime.
